1-21-2012 Our first sleepover at our Castle House!

So today was a pretty big day (for us as homeowners anyways). Ever since we moved in on January 6th its been a constant project trying to organize and decorate our new home. Melanie has still been working her last few days at med-tely since she got a new job at labor and delivery (her dream job) and will soon be starting there February 6. With a new addition to the Gill family (Dyna, our new German Shorthaired Pointer dog) we have been having to adapt to a lot of things quickly. I have school starting next week too. You wouldn't believe how much we have been spending lately, trying to get all the rooms somewhat ready for company. Today we had to fix our first major repair on the house. $125 to fix our water heater. I have also had to do some other repairs myself. I fixed 4 pigeon holes in our roof, holes left wide open by contractors who built this home, holes for birds to nest, but not any more! Before that I was cleaning the dryer vent and installing a hole for the dryer to be flush with the wall. I fixed the garage door, replaced all the light bulbs with energy saving bulbs, etc. Theres still a million more projects but I will work on them.one at a time. Melanie and I worked hard today starting at 8 am to finally really clean house since we were planning on having the lawsons stay the night. It looked like they weren't gonna make it due to the road closure from fire in washoe valley, but bless their hearts they drove the long way up through Virginia city and down to reno and to our house. They had to leave Bradley at the kennel since it was our first sleepover, but they made it. The house was ready and in they came the boys were so excited! Dyna too! We had pizza and a movie night. We watched Smurfs with our projector and had ice cream sundaes. After the movie everyone was zonked out, as am I now from writing this novel! Anyways I had a lot to talk about but just wanted to say I am so glad we could finally have family stay the night, our first sleepover! Tomorrows breakfast then they leave back for Carson. Hopefully we can start working on getting the rooms ready with beds so they can sleep better instead of on our couch and air mattress! They're troopers, that's for sure. Another project yet to be accomplished, but someday we can be ready to receive our whole family! Until next time!

1-19-2012 Blogger, my online journal!

Since it's 2012 and the beginning of a new year I thought I'd catch up with the rest of the world and start online blogging. Although we have a blog already set up for our family called Gillbillies, I created this blog for my day to day activities. I always wanted to be an avid journal writer and now that Blogger has an app, I can blog pretty much any time any where I have service. This is especially good before I go to sleep because I always play on my phone then anyways :) well it's midnight so this will do for now!
